WEATHER DERIVATIVE
DEALERS JOIN FORCES TO FORM NEW ASSOCIATION: WEATHER RISK MANAGEMENT
ASSOCIATION
Weather Risk Management Association was recently
incorporated in Washington, D.C. by James Gosselin of Castlebridge
Partners, LLC, Lynda Clemmons of Enron Capital & Trade Resources
Corporation, Jeff Porter of Koch Industries, and Darren Wilcox of Southern
Company Energy Marketing. This association has one objective, to serve the
weather risk management industry. Weather risk management products can be
described as financial tools designed to protect companies against weather
conditions that would adversely affect revenues. In their capacity as
incorporators their first act was to select a Board of
Directors.
The new officers of
the Board of Directors for the Weather Risk Management Association
(WRMA) are President, James Gosselin, of Castlebridge Partners, LLC,
Vice President, Lynda Clemmons, of Enron Capital & Trade Resources
Corporation, Secretary/Treasurer, Darren Wilcox, of Southern Company
Energy Marketing. Jeff Porter, of Koch Industries is serving on the Board
of Directors along with Ravi Nathan of Aquila, and Peter Gakos of Swiss RE
New Markets.
The WRMA is made up
of both Regular and Associate members. Regular members include those
actively engaged in the weather risk management industry. Associate
members are those companies that supply data, products or consulting
services to the weather risk industry.
Charter Members of
the association include Aquila, Castlebridge Partners, LLC, Enron Capital
& Trade Resources Corporation, Koch Industries, Southern Company
Energy Marketing, and Swiss RE New Markets.
WRMA President
James Gosselin, of Castlebridge Partners LLC, commented, " I am very
excited that we have all come together to establish an association to
serve as a focal point to address issues that affect the industry, to
promote the industry, to educate potential users and to serve the needs of
our members."
WRMA HAS ENGAGED THE
SERVICES OF RESOURCES FOR GROUP MANAGEMENT, INC.
WRMA has engaged the services of Resources for Group
Management, Inc. (RGM), of Washington, D.C., which has effectively managed
a variety of trade and professional associations for the last thirteen
years. Valerie Bergman Cooper was named Executive Director. Cooper comes
to the group with eleven years of association experience.
